Abstract
The researchers conducted this study to determine the study habits and academic performance of the pupils in selected schools of Dumingag during the School Year 2018-2019.
The study utilized the descriptive correlational method with the survey questionnaire checklist as the main instrument to gather the data vital to this study. Discriptive statistics was used in analyzing the gathered data.
The study revealed that majority of the pupil-participants belonged to large famiiies, whose parents were elementary level. Most of them are supported by their parents, used electricity as their source of light and lived 3-4 kilometers away from school.
Moreover, the Grade VI pupil-participants' academic performance were "Very Satisfactory" and apparently manifested occasionaly good. In addition, there was no significant relationship between the pupil-participants' study habits and their academic performances.
Finally the study recommends that the teachers may utilize various teaching strategies to help improve the study habits of the pupils; that the school may provide learning materials for instructions in order that the pupils would something to use during their free time; and that a similar study may be conducted with an increased number of variables.
