Abstract
Herbal medicine is the oldest form of healthcare known to mankind. Herbs had been used by all cultures throughout history. It was an integral part of the development of modern civilization. The Philippines has been blessed with indigenous plants but, more often than not, these have been neglected or remain underutilized. This collection of indigenous herbal medicinal plants had been conducted in five municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur namely Guipos, San Miguel, Labangan, Lakewood and Lapuyan. It aimed to identify the herbal medicines used by the native Subanens in the said municipalities, and the procedure and application in curing illnesses. Interview has been conducted to native Subanens aging forty and above. There were sixty-eight (68) herbal medicinal plants collected throughout the interview. These are presented in photographs with its Local, English and Scientific name.
